Tartan-Tastic!!

New girl Michelle here to tell the world I love Tartan! And not just because I'm Scottish! With so many colours and patterns available, it works great for brides who have a variety of colours they want for the big day, and also fits well into so many themes. And of course, men always look hot in a kilt! (picture of Gerard Butler for your enjoyment girls!)

There are so many ways to influence tartan into your wedding. Invitations can have small strips of material on a white card to stand out and decorations can include tartan ribbons or sashes on chairs and around bouquets. Even adding a sash around the waist of your bridesmaids can give a little boost of colour. You can  of course go all out and have a whole dress made of tartan, not one for the faint-hearted though!

If you add wild flowers like thistles and heather to your venue, it can really highlight a Scottish feel. you can even get a ceildh band to get everyone up and dancing or a Piper to pipe you down the aisle. Of course it doesn't have to be Scottish, with English and Irish tartans available, you can share your British heritage in a unique way. And if like to support our troops, Help for Heroes have their own tartan which is available from many gents Formal Hire stores and raises money for our boys and girls in the military! Tartan, love it!!

Getting to the church on time.......

When hiring transport for the big day, it's important to take time out to look for different types of varieties and models.

When considering what type of transport will make you arrive in style, consider the size and how many people you can accommodate. A motorcycle may only carry the bride, which means having to arrange other transport for the rest if the bridal party.

Is your reception far rom your venue?

Will you to need include transport for guests ?

Are you using the same transport to the ceremony and then to the reception ?

Are you will to spend the extra for it to take you to your overnight accommodation ??

Lots of things to consider when booking transport so take your time and get it right. Don't spend thousands if no one Is going to see you arrive.
Here we have given you some inspiration for you to consider, from buses to carriages, tractors to bicycles !

Bonfire, fireworks and plenty of sparkle !

There is nothing more exciting than watching fireworks ! No matter how old you are, fireworks bring back childhood memories and are a amazing end to your special day.

Before hiring a company to do your display, ensure you have checked with your venue that you are allowed to have fireworks. A lot of hotels will allow you but place such as old village halls and barns, country pubs or restaurants might have thatched roofs so will be a no go, but adding a bit of sparkle to your wedding day can really be an everlasting moment.

Remember at your venue to create a space that allows your guests to stand well back from the display and consider will your guests be warm enough? Are children in a safe area that they will not be able to get lost outside?

Sparklers make great favours for your guests, but can be dangerous! Make sure children will be supervised and you may consider getting gloves for your guests to wear.
Ensure that only responsible adults are using them, not your guest that have been tucking into the free bar all afternoon! Consider having a sparkler display before the evening guests arrive and then have your fireworks later when it's dark.
However try not to have displays to late, as evening guests may not stay to long if they have young children or have to work the next day.

Check these beautiful pictures out of how fireworks and sparklers can bring some magic to your special day.

Most Curious indeed !

Todays blog is by our new girl Michelle Young, talking about the Most Curious Parties vintage wedding show in Norwich featuring amazing top vinatge suppliers. Read on to capture the heart of this vintage treat !

Today (Sunday 21st October 2010) I ventured toA Most Curious Wedding Fair at St. Andrews Hall, Norwich and when being greetedby a cute Volkswagen Camper Van and what looked like a Japanese geisha bride onstilts, my curiosity definitely started emerging!

Upon entering the venue, you could instantly feel the vintage vibe running through the room. A wide variety of stalls were available stocking everything from dresses and veils, to cakes and favours. And in the background you could hear the soulful sounds of the vocal harmony group, the Voxettes. The three girls were fantastic, singing classics such as Lets Stay Together and At Last, perfect for entertaining guests during a cocktail hour!

Themes were definitely visible when looking at the stalls. Lots of woodland style flowers, mixed with woods and greenery to give the enchanted forest feeling. Button and brooch bouquets (and even badge bouquets) stalls were also in force, which shows this is a definite trend on the rise. But of course, vintage was the aim of the day, with a folk band and vintage fashion shows to keep you entertained. And what really took me was the variety of unique stalls there.

How about a fire juggler or stilt walker from Duel Fuel Entertainment, offering a wide range of exciting and dangerous entertainment for your guests. Maybe you are still looking for that perfect hen do idea. The girls over at The Historical Sources can arrange an amazing vintage beauty school for you and your hen party to get that perfect look, and can also be hired with a Snuff Bar (this can also be hired for your wedding day)! Now this was an experience! Reginald Spleen’sTravelling Snuff Bar had me intrigued and of course I let curiosity get the better of me and had to have a go. Thankfully the girl I spoke to known as RetroChick had a remedy for my cold. So a pinch I took and sniff! And wow did it work! Would definitely advise for the more risqué brides!

And of course I can’t forget the wonderful talent from the stalls of the bridalNEXT! section, full of up and coming designers. The first to really stand out for me wasMystic Magic Masquerade. These amazing, unique and bespoke masks and headpieces are designed and made by the very talented (and only 18 years old!) AshleyPearce. He uses a wide range of materials and ideas to suit every bride and theme from traditional style masks to cute bunny ears fascinators. LOVE IT!! It also included designs from MyBowK offering jewelled bouquets and Sophie &Smith exhibiting bespoke wedding dresses.

All in all, a truly wonderful day with a lot of inspiring ideas and emerging talent, brilliantly presented by A Most Curious Parties. Would have loved to have seen more bridalwear, but this didn’t let the event down. Keep an eye out for the next one!
