Donate a Dress for The Big C

Happy Thursday!

In today's blog I'm going to tell you all about a fantastic charity wedding event which will be raising money for The Big C Centre in Norwich. The day is being organised by Scallywag Events and the simple, yet brilliant, idea is that women donate their old wedding dresses to go into an auction and the money raised from the sales will all go to the Big C.  Michelle Gregory from Scallywag Events is going to explain about this wonderful day;

How can we get involved?
It's easy! Scallywag Events will be at the Forum in Norwich on Saturday 2nd March between 9am and 5pm; just bring your wedding dress along.

Why should we get involved?
Did you feel and look like a princess when you wore your Wedding dress? Do you look at pictures, watch the video, and reminisce with friends and loved ones about your big day? What happened to the dress though? Where did it end up? Stuffed in a cupboard? Boxed in the loft? Perhaps that beautiful, magical dress (which made you feel so special) shouldn't be hidden away from the world. Perhaps it could be making someone else feel special. At Scallywag Events we think so! That’s why we are asking everyone to join in and give life back to that beautiful dress, let it shine and do its magic once more.

Is is it just wedding dresses you want to be donated?
No! It’s not just your pre-loved wedding dresses we're after! We're also in search of bridesmaid, flower girl, ball and prom dresses. Sadly with so much multimedia about (blast those Facebook photos) it's becoming harder and harder to wear a dress more than once. By donating your dress not only will you be giving it a chance to be loved again. You will also (really importantly) be helping a fantastic cause; The Big C. 100% of the money made from the sale of the dresses will go to The Big C. In the unlikely event that any dress is left unsold at the end of the day it will get yet another chance to find a home as it takes its place on the dress rails of The Big C Wedding Shop on Timber Hill, Norwich.

What if I've not got married yet?
You can still pop along and say Hi to us at the Forum and take the opportunity to register to attend our Wedding Fair and Bridal Fashion Show at Roundwood Celebration Venue, Taverham, on 21st April 10:30am until 4:00pm. By pre registering you are guaranteed a free goody bag no matter what time of day you come to the show! You can also register online at www.scallywagevents.co.uk

How can I see the dresses available?
All the dresses donated will be on display as part of the Bridal Fashion show. Brides to be will also be able to try on the dresses and chat to a qualified seamstresses about alterations you might like to make. What’s more over 30 local suppliers will be on hand to discuss the different elements of your wedding with you.

Could you tell me a little more about the Big C Centre?
The Big C Cancer Support and Information Centre is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University  Hospital, (also called the Big C Centre) it is a warm and welcoming place for cancer patients, their careers, family and friends. It is a place to reflect, away from the hospital and all things clinical. There are always refreshments on offer and there is a pleasant garden where people can relax and unwind. Funded by Big C, no charges are made for any of the services provided at the cancer support and information centre. What's more visitors do not have to be attending hospital; this service is there for anyone affected by cancer in the Norfolk and Waveney area. There is also a Big C Centre in Great Yarmouth on Regent Street. For more  information on the Big C go to http://www.big-c.co.uk/

Michelle and Gemma from Evissa Weddings will proudly be displaying at Roundwood celebration centre on the 21st April so make sure you pop along and say hello !!
