Centre of Christmas.....

As Christmas draws closer, presents are wrapped, the food arrives and decorations are up, there is one thing left to do in my house ! Set the table.
Now, to me a Christmas table should look elegant and sophisticated, however with small children bringing home delightful homemade decorations from school, this is proving tricky !
Here's some inspiration for centre pieces for your tables.

What are you having as a centrepiece ?
Leave us a comment and add to our list !
Merry Christmas x

Christmas Crackers!

With Christmas being only a couple of days around the corner away, I thought I'd keep today's post festive! I love Christmas weddings, and if I could, I would have my Christmas Eve, lights everywhere and snow falling. However, in East Anglia, its more like constant rain and drizzle with a slight chance of sleet. So what will I be showing off today you ask? How about some amazing Christmas wedding cakes!

You can do this idea one of two ways. It can be very simple, with snowflakes to decorate, or more intricate, with patterns or shapes to fit the theme. You can even do a Christmas Croquembouche (see post on 2nd Nov 2012 to find out more on these sweet towers of awesomeness!). Go wild and have fun, it is Christmas after all!

Some great ideas

Character cake

Soap weddings !!

Well if your like me and love Christmas, not only because of the endless amounts of food and gifts, but to me the best bit is the Christmas specials! The hubby's sound asleep, the kids happily playing with the latest toys and the Queens done her speech, it's my time ! Today's blog is a look back though soap history !
Now, I do know there is a difference between Eastenders and real life! however, there is nothing better than getting drawn into the Kat & Alfie love affair and the Brannings wedding! Although wedding season is quite this time of year, in soap land it's only just beginning!

Sitting Pretty!

Place cards. One of those mandatory items needed to get everyone sitting where you meticulously drew them on your seating chart. Now, call me old fashioned, but I much prefer making it a bit more difficult for guests to find their seat at a wedding. It makes everyone get talking, very quickly taking down the divide in the room of two families. I especially love having table names, so guests have to go looking for the table name, and then chat to find their seat. One again, doing this breaks down barriers! Of course if you don't want the hassle, a table plan is one of the best methods of helping guests find where they are going.

And of course when they find their place card, why should it be boring? You can still be creative and fun, and even double it up as a wedding favour. You can do so much to match the theme of your wedding, and many of the ideas can be done yourself keeping costs way down!

Miniature flowers or plants are great for eco-friendly couples and weddings taking place in Spring and Summer. Having a wedding in Autumn? Why not use pine cones for a rustic feeling. Sticking to eco-friendly, perhaps you could use beautiful rocks or slate with names written on as great place settings, or for a sea side theme wedding, seashells.

Of course you can get much more creative! Miniature photo frames are always great options. Perhaps having Lego pieces, or my absolute favourite, having names spelled and displayed from Scrabble sets! The possibilities are endless, it all comes down to your creativity and wants of the Bride and Groom! Have a look at some more ideas!

Vintage pin curls and finger waves,.....

Good morning,
todays post is all about vintage hair. With so many styles and years to choose from vintage hair is a perfect way to blend your look with your day !

I'm often asked how long a style will hold as lots of customers are having their hair done before the big day, and I generally say that my clients say, it lasts all day! some even a weekender !

So which type of vintage girl are you?
A 60's siren ? A 40's sweetheart ? Or a 50's rockabilly ??

Victory rolls
These are amazing ! Proper vintage to me! They can be done in a variety of ways tops or sides work best,

Pin curls and sculpture curls are suitable for naturally curly or permanently waved hair. Hair needs to be moist condition with water or waving lotion.
1) separate the hair into strands and comb smoothly.
2)place index finger about two inches on the strand from hair ends.
3)wind the hair ends around finger-remove the wound hair off finger-pull slightly to insure a tight curl.
4)roll the curl towards the scalp
5) pin the curl securely in the direction in which it to be combed.

Beehives
I'm a massive fan of a beehive and quite often sport this myself ! Think modern day Amy Winehouse and Audrey Hepburn for complete vintage !
