Official photos from Ruby and Nelly's photo shoot taken by Jillian Alyse

Hopefully you all will have seen my blog post last week with the behind the scenes photos from Ruby and Nelly's photo shoot which I was lucky enough to co-ordinate. The vintage crockery was beautiful, the cakes were delicious, the weather was glorious and the location was fabulous. All of the suppliers were amazing and I, along with everyone involved, was thrilled with the results. I want to share with you today some of my favourite images from the shoot. These are the official photographs, not my poor attempt so sit back and enjoy this little selection of photos capture by the very talented Jillian Alyse. To have a look at her portfolio, to make an inquiry or booking go to her website: www.jillianalyse.com

I wanted to create an English, romantic, cottage garden look. And I hope you'll agree that I was successful. For more information about this wonderful crockery hire and vintage cream tea catering go to www.rubyandnellys.co.uk

Enjoy!

A Burst of Bright in Neon

Well, I don't want to jinx it, but it kind of looks like Summer may have returned, having even enjoyed a BBQ yesterday! And to honour the sun, we are going bright. Super bright. That's right, we are going neon!

Neon is great if you want to make a bright and bold statement for your wedding. It's fun, it fearless, it brings back those memories of vintage 80's and I think makes you feel alive. There are so many ways to bring this fun and funky theme into your big day, from what to wear to your wedding accessories. You can have flowers or fake, coloured dresses or coloured petticoats, even bright icing or bright sponge for your cake. The possibilities are endless, which is even better because you can really make your day unique to you.

**Featured Supplier** - This Is Magic Man

Today we a a treat for you all! Growing up, I have always been fascinated at magic and illusions, so when Chris signed up to be a sponsor, I couldn't believe our luck!

Chris started dabbling in magic when he was younger and bought himself a magic set. Now as all kids do (I know I had a magic kit and it lived under my bed for many years),Chris slowly began to lose interest, and it wasn't until he performed his first card trick to his primary school class that he began to see his true potential and then his mind was slowly hooked. So he then went out and bought some packs of smarties with his pocket money and he won some magic tricks as a prize. He then went and performed them to his secondary school pals and the reactions he was getting were far beyond what he had ever imagined, even just from a set of small close up tricks! He once again began to lose interest in his trickery for a while (as teenagers do) until he realised he was missing out on the reactions and enjoyment of his magical skills. After seeing the popularity of other magicians performing close-up on TV, he found a pack of cards and learned everything he could and more, and was soon appearing on  UK talent shows. One of which was local and he came 2nd place.

Chris has now performed in a variety of places, including Norwich City Football Club at Carrow Road, and we also had the joy of watching him wow guests at a wedding last December! If you are looking for something magical for your big day, get in touch with him!

Guest post - Contemporary Ideas for your Modern Wedding

This is a first for us at Evissa Weddings; a guest post courtesy of Sofia Angeli! We'd love to have your feedback...

Marriage is something all couples look forward to after a romantic proposal and engagement rings. Next, finding a most unusual wedding theme takes center stage. Having a modern wedding is something out of the ordinary and not typecasted with the typical church weddingthat we all grew up to know. It is something that you can come up from your own imagination. All you need is creativity and style to generate the best modern wedding there is.

Planning for a wedding is a very special moment for a bride because of the hands on preparation she experiences. This is also a time when she gets to bond more with her bridesmaids and maid of honor in the process of preparation. If you are one of those brides-to-be who is thinking of coming up with an extraordinary theme of this special event, here are some ideas you may use for your modern themed wedding.

.
Beach Wedding – Out of all the contemporary wedding ideas out there, this is said to be the most famous of them all. Having a beach wedding does not require going too out of town. If you don’t have the time and budget, you can bring the beach motif right at the heart of the city. Using the color blue to represent the deep blue sea can be a color motif for your wedding. Having a beach wedding is very romantic and can make you feel relaxed as you hear the waves crash and feel the breeze of the ocean.

Vintage Wedding – Having a vintage themed wedding is considered elegant. Not only does this make you feel nostalgic, it also makes you feel like you are part of the Victorian era. This is perfect for garden weddings or in a huge ballroom to have that 1920’s feel. This may seem a little bit old fashioned, but it would be out of the ordinary once this happens in this contemporary era.

Tropical Wedding – This theme gives a summer feel to couples special occasion. This is also considered to be similar to a beach wedding, but does not require going out of town. A tropical themed wedding is usually composed of sandy beaches and blue waters, tropical flowers and palm trees. You can base your wedding theme on a country that has a unique cultural background to have an interesting twist to the ceremony.

Pirate-themed Wedding – Usually, pirate themes are only for birthday parties. But if you are willing to go on the adventurous side, having a pirate-themed wedding is the way to go. You can base your wedding on famous movies like “Pirates of the Carribean” or even Hook from the famous movie Peter Pan. Having this as a theme is very unique and unlike any other.

Sports – Usually most couples share an interest in sports. There are various sports to choose from like basketball, baseball, soccer and many others. It would be cool to conduct this ceremony in a basketball court or baseball field to really have a unique kick to your wedding.

Preparing for weddings can start with the most romantic proposals and engagement rings. Thinking of a theme is just the first step to this special occasion, and also a start to their happily ever after. This event only happens once in a lifetime and must be perfect for every couple who is starting a very long journey of forever.

Keep Calm and Hire a Wedding Co-ordinator

Wedding co-ordination. I think often this is a service which gets overlooked, and wrongly so. At Evissa Weddings it's a service we offer and I would recommend this to every bride and groom. Couples who want to fully organise the event themselves and don't want any help they often neglect the fact that the day itself is going to need management.

By having a wedding co-ordinator there on the day it enables you to relax and enjoy the whole day safe in the knowledge that there is someone there ensuring everything is running to perfection.

As I was rather wisely told yesterday, it's not the bride or grooms job to be in charge of running the whole event. It's the part (which can be understandably difficult) where they can both take a step back and enjoy what has been put together over months and sometimes years. It is vital that every couple enjoys their special day without the stress of co-ordinating it themselves.

As I've already mentioned this is a service that Evissa Weddings, offer and our package includes the following:

* Unlimited calls and emails
* 2 meetings with the couple
* Review all contacts and draw up a wedding day schedule
* Ensure the bar and caterer are set up and ready to go
* Confirm with suppliers for all deliveries
* Collection of all decorations and stationery items required for dressing at venue
* Ensure no items are left behind
* Ensure the smooth running of the whole event.

All weddings are different and the above list can be edited and tailored to meet your personal needs.

Wedding day management is a key part of any big day, and it's very important to find yourself a co-ordinator who you are comfortable leaving in charge of your special day. Send us an email or give us a call for a free consultation, a chat about co-ordination, and a quote specific to your wedding.

Life is a Song, Love is the Music

Sheet music is such a simple thing, available to find everywhere and yet, how many of us have ever considered it as a wedding theme? With vintage being a number one contender in the wedding world, nothing fits better than some old style music sheet, whether blank or containing songs. It is a great theme for anytime of year, and can be made to suit by using season flowers and colours, such as pink or a mint green in Spring or a ruby red during Winter. It is also a very cheap theme to use, with much of it able to be made by you as you can buy sheet paper, or even try the charity shops for old music books (which can look better as it will have a more vintage, worn look). And there are so many ways to incorporate this cost effective and yet beautiful theme into your special day.

How about printing off a song special to you both, roll and tie with a piece of lace and use as keepsake wedding favours for guests. Or make paper bouquets and buttonholes with sheet paper (or if you are like me, find someone to make them for you!). If you want real flowers, opt for simple shades and more rustic styles, trying to keep in season for a fresh look. Chuck some paper through a shredder and create cute and unique confetti. And the dress? Wearing something in cream or oyster can be a great fit.

A great touch can be hiring a musician to play during the day, such as a pianist, harpist or string quartet, not only continuing the theme, but giving a touch of elegance to the event. Have a look for some more inspiration!

Yep, we like to stay busy! So here is what you might have missed this past week!

3rd June

On Monday I was discussing the new popular trend of reception dresses, where many ladies have opted to have a second, more flexible dress to boogie down in, in the evening. With some great ideas, you may find yourself needing a second dress shopping trip!

4th June

Tuesday, Gemma was talking about different ways to dress your chairs for a more unique style at your event. With everything from different materials, to flowers and props, it is sure to get your mind flowing with creativity.

7th June

On Friday, I thought it was time to escape East Anglia and take a trip to one of the world's most popular wedding destinations. And no, we didn't travel far, in fact we just popped over the border. That's right, it was all about getting hitched in the famous Gretna Green!

8th June

This Saturday was our new addition Coral's first post. And what better to write about than the Alfred Angelo Disney Bridal Collection! For those who know me, you know that I love this collection, with Belle's being the running favourite for my own wedding, so it was a fabulous read!

And what to look forward to you ask? Well that would ruin the suspense! Keep your eyes peeled for the next week of fabulous wedding tips and ideas!
