It's Friday folks and that means supplier time! Today we have the return of the lovely Laura and Hair by Laura Hughes. She has been very busy with the wedding season creating stunning looks for happy brides. Laura has also been involved in several photoshoots including a DIY tutorial with Raspberry Wedding and a dress shoot for Sophie and Smith. One Year Anniversary

It's one year on from your wedding day and you can't quite believe how quickly the time has gone! I'm sure it's been a lovely year of exploring married life together. But what to get your other half for an anniversary gift? As I'm sure you all know one year is paper, in the same way that 50 years is gold. I think it's lovely to stick with this theme of paper and try to get a gift which encompasses this.

There are a number of ways to use paper in your gift (and not just the wrapping!)...

Origami 

I just adore the idea of making two origami people, or a love heart.

Cut outs

From wonderfully simple to intricately detailed these cut outs look fab. 

Frame some paper art

This really is quite broad. Anything from people made from paper again to lots of little love hearts cut out.

Pack of cards

Now bear with me.. This idea is wonderful. Take a pack of cards and punch holes in each one. Now take each card and write something different on each. This could be 52 reasons why you love them, 52 favourite memories, 52 photographs.... Tie them together with ribbon or similar and voila!

Joke gifts

I must admit I can see this humour in toilet roll... But perhaps have a back up real present too.

So find yourself a local artist or get stuck in a have a go at making your own gift! I personally love handmade presents; there is so much thought that gone into them it gives them greater meaning.

The Doctor

After researching ring boxes yesterday I found a wonderful selection of Doctor Who wedding items. This got me to thinking how many people would love a Doctor Who themed wedding (and how relevant with the new Docotor released). Begin with that amazing shade if TARDIS blue, grab some red converse, and if you can build or hire one a TARDS of your own!

So for all you geeks out there here is some inspiration! I personally love the vicar wearing the long striped Dr Who scarf! Amazing. Time to geek-out...

Box It Up

 Happy Tuesday! Today I've decided to focus on a detail which may be often overlooked. It's small and the focus is on what's kept inside it, but a little extra thought to this particular item can go a really long way. The engagement ring box! Now I understand that many people won't want to draw attention from its contents but there are some which will want to make just as much of a statement with it.

You can choose something which is simple and elegant, or bold and unusual or you can make it unique and completely personal to your relationship. If your special someone has a favourite colour, musician or movie you could taylor the box to suit. Now I know that I keep using the word "box" but this doesn't have to be the case; you could put it in a cushion, inside a book or a baseball...

I have found so many stunning ways of presenting an engagement ring and I really am so excited to share them with you. I hope that you find some inspiration from this! Enjoy!

The Cascading Bouquet

The bouquet is always one of the major elements to the bride, but with so many styles, it can get very daunting! I personally love the cascade bouquet, and sometimes known as the waterfall bouquet. It does as the name suggests, the flowers cascade down, creating a stunning focal point for pictures. They can be short or long. I have opted for a shorter cascade as that's what the type of flowers I have picked best suit, but they can be all the way to the ground, as you will see from pictures.

And they don't have to be flowers! I have seen everything from brooches to feathers used to create beautiful bridal bouquets for the blushing bride. Most florists will have these designs (or will be willing to give it a go!) as well as there being multiple tutorials online on places like YouTube if you are doing it yourself. Another option being attending a class in flower arranging. Some florists offer these to brides to be, helping them to create their own beautiful bouquets.

Being a bit of a rocker, I have really struggled to find something that expresses myself and fiances personality, as well as be something we want to listen to! Saturday was all about the giant martini glass. A versatile and fun option for wedding centrepieces that can be made to suit any theme and budget. And heck, if you get bored, it also serves as a great drinking glass!

The Giant Martini Glass

These glasses are becoming more and more popular for wedding use, through suppliers as well as DIY brides. Not only do they look great full of flowers, but can also look fantastic with floating candles, LED lights, and crystals, making them a very versatile and fun option for centrepieces, linking them into any and everything theme and colour combo. Even better is you can also use them for buffets, whether food or candy, as a beautiful serving station for guests to enjoy.

If you are a DIY bride, and this is something you would like to find, best place to look is online, however if you would like to see them up close, I would advise various home stores such as The Range and Dunelm Mill, or perhaps looking at hiring them from wedding shops and decor suppliers.

Your Alternative First Dance

With more and more alternative couples getting hitched these days (me being one of them), the hunt is always on for the perfect first dance track to reflect the personality of the couple. My fear is that in ten years from now, my fiance and I will be out and our song will come on. And at that special moment when you look at each other with a glance of love, and get up to share that dance again, so does half the room...
