A Parisian Love Affair

So today, I'm stepping away from 2013 trends and writing about something I love. When it comes to weddings, its all about love and romance, so what better theme than Paris! A city renowned for its romantic vibes, with couples flocking to attend the Pont des Arts bridge where the lovebirds attach a padlock to the railings and throw the key into the river Seine, locking their love forever. And with Paris also being popular for its cutting fashion and exquisite food, it fits a lavish wedding day perfectly. Now this doesn't mean you have to cover the place in mini Eiffel Towers (although they make cute favours) as there is so much more to the city of love such as the Louvre with its amazing art, to the Basilique du sacre-Coeur and its wonderful architecture.

With this theme you can go have a mix of things throughout. Monochrome colour patterns are a must, with black and white being my favourite. Lots of lace (preferably chantilly lace as its french!) and damask print with help get the setting too.

With Paris being huge for fashion, this means you can really go to town with your dress. Once again, lots of lace, which is great if you want introduce a vintage Parisian ambience. I also like the idea of having a coloured sash, mixing a crisp white dress with the black to stand out perfectly.

The rest is up to you and what you want to add. For the cake, I would advise a Croquembouche, which is a French wedding cake (see the 2nd of Nov post for more info) although if you want to keep our traditional tiered cake, add lace and damask for decor, or perhaps a Parisian skyline along the cake. I love white anemones for the flowers as the have the perfect black centre, having them as bouquets or decorations around the room. Have french inspired food, with oysters and langoustines being very popular, and for the less brave (like myself, oysters just look bleurgh!) serve French Onion soup or mini pastries. Perhaps you could have padlocks as favours, to mark the bridge, or maybecover the room in artwork to feel like the magnificent art n show in the city.

Remember, the theme needs to be clean and precise to get it right. Have a look for more ideas, and perhaps a Parisian love affair is just what you need for your big day!
