Destination Wedding in.... Mexico!

Today, I am bringing you another fantastic destination wedding! And in honour of the wonderful weather we are receiving, we are going to Mexico. Its one of the most popular wedding destinations at the moment and with beautiful walks, amazing food and some excellent activities (not to mention gorgeous sunshine), you can see why!

There are two main places for weddings abroad in Mexico. Cancun is of course one of them. The most popular of all areas of Mexico for tourists, Cancun is a lively and exciting city where you can spend the day laying on the warm white sand of the beach and dance the night away in its fantastic clubs and bars. And if lively isn't what you were looking for, how about heading over to the Riviera Maya. Here you can visit some of the world's best cultural sights such as Tulum, home of the Mayan ruins, the Mayan caves at Aktun Chen and Xel-Has blue lagoon.

And if you plan on staying to enjoy your honeymoon here also, what a memorable visit you can get! How about snorkeling, or taking it one step further and taking a swim with dolphins, manatees and even whale sharks! Maybe you could take the Atlantis Submarine from Cozumel along the coast or check out the amazing butterfly reserves on offer to visitors.

Now for the wedding part. First thing to remember is that your wedding planner will sort out most of this for you, you just need to bring the paperwork. Only civil marriages are recognised as legal in Mexico. It is possible to have a religious ceremony, but you will still have to legalise the marriage with a civil ceremony as well. And there are several things you may need document wise (I have made a list, see the end  of the post). One thing you may have heard is the blood tests. The reason they like to have this done is to A) check to see if you are RH positive or negative (women who have had children will know of this, ask your doctor for more info) and B) to check for things such as HIV and syphilis. Try not to let this put you off an amazing experience, and like I said, talk to your doctor if you have any concerns over this.

Some of the best venues I have found offering beautiful Mexico weddings are the Now Sapphire and Jade Riviera in Cancun, the Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa in Riviera Maya, and the Secrets Silversands Riviera in Cancun. If you want to find out more, you local travel agent is always available as well as looking online. I would also say check with companies such as Kuoni, Virgin and Thomson for new deals and packages!
