Pooch Paradise!

Pretty much everyone includes their children in their wedding, its just the done thing! But what happens when your dogs are your surrogate kids? More and more people are opting for pets instead of little people to fill the maternal and paternal gap. And then you also have the case of the beloved family pet, who can't be left out of any family occasions. Dogs are just awesome! Personally, if I have a dog by my wedding day, they will definitely be involved! Affectionate and funny, they provide great picture shoots with bride and groom, and give the kids at your wedding something to fuss over (not to mention being your best friend).

So what can you do with your perfect pooch? I love having them as bridesmaids and ushers, and with all the gorgeous little dog outfits available, you can really go to town. Perhaps you have a bigger dog? Then use matching flowers to decorate collars and make headpieces (be sure to check that the plants used are safe for  your four-legged friends). You can also choose to have them as a big part of the ceremony, and have them carry the rings in a small basket, or doggy designed ring-bearing pillow. Just make sure they are tied on tight as you don't want any accidental swallowing (making a very funny story, but not so fun afternoon).

Some things to remember when including your pooch! Always check with venues to ensure they are doggy friendly, as many upscale hotels can be funny about pets. Have plenty of water available throughout the day for them, especially if you are getting married in the summer, and provide a nice sheltered place to lay so they don't overheat. And most importantly, unless everyone's fur ball is on the guest list, ensure that guests know its only your dog invited on the big day! The last thing you want is a sea of barking as you say your vows!
