It's a Record Breaker!

In light of my friend receiving his certificate for his Guinness World Record (blowing a malteser with a straw over a certain speed and distance with a group or something like that... I really should listen to him more!) I thought I'd dedicate today to world record weddings! So here are my faves!:

Longest Marriage

Herbert Fisher (USA, b. 10 June 1905) and Zelmyra Fisher (USA, b. 10 December 1907) were married on May 13, 1924 in North Carolina, USA. They had been married 86 years, 9 months, and 16 days as of 27 February 2011.
Herbert Fisher sadly died on Sunday 27th February 2011. The couple had 5 children.

Most Couples Married Underwater- Simultaneously

On 14 February 2001 (Valentine's Day), 34 couples from 22 countries simultaneously exchanged wedding vows 10 metres (32.8 ft) underwater near Kradan Island, Southern Thailand. This was organized by Trang Chamber of Commerce and Thai Airways International. Only couples holding international diving licences were qualified to participate. Couples received waterproof certificates before taking off their mouthpieces and indulging themselves in an underwater kiss.

Most Expensive Wedding Cake Slice

A box containing a piece of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor's 1937 wedding cake sold at Sotheby's, New York, USA on 27 February 1998 for £18,163 ($29,900) to Benjamin and Amanda Yin of San Francisco, USA.
Bearing the inscription 'A piece of our wedding cake WE 3-V1-37', the lot was estimated originally at £303-£607 (US$500-$1,000). Speaking after the sale, Mr Yim said, 'It is almost unimaginable to have such an item exist. It is something totally surreal. It represents the epitome of a great romance.' When asked if they would be exhibiting the cake, Mr Yim replied, 'We're sure not going to eat it!'

Most Expensive Wedding Dress
According to Guinness World Records, the most expensive wedding dress costs $12 million. The super luxury wedding gown has more than 150 carats diamond and was created by bridal designer Renee Strauss and Martin Katz Jewellers in 2006.
The dress has not got a buyer yet, so maybe the price can come down a bit at this economic climate.

Most Expensive Wedding for Pets
The most expensive wedding for pets was valued at £101,838 ($158,187.26) between Baby Hope Diamond (Coton de Tulear) and Chilly Pasternak (Virginia poodle), organized by Animal Fair Media Inc., Harriet Rose Katz, and the Jurimuah Essex Hotel in Central Park, New York, New York, USA, on 12 July 2012.
The entire wedding was estimated to cost over $270,000. Most of the wedding elements were donated in order to raise money and awareness for the Humane Society of New York.

Fastest Wedding Chapel
Two years ago Rev. Darrell Best, of Shelbyville, Illinois, USA, converted his 1940's fire truck into a wedding chapel on wheels. The wedding chapel entitled 'The Best Man', allows lovers to tie the knot while they're on the road and is capable of reaching speeds of 99 km/h (62 mph). Rev. Best who has married over 40 couples in the vehicle says that people love it because "it allows them to get married in any environment they want. Sometimes they don't want to get off the vehicle so it's the bride and the groom, the two witnesses, and the minister all in the sanctuary on the back of the truck. It can get pretty intimate!"

Longest Wedding Dress Train
The Guinness Book of World Records recognized a 1.85-mile-long ivory train on a silk and lace gown as the world's longest, beating the previous record held by a Dutch designer. Romania's Andree Salon fashion house spent 100 days creating it, armed with a team of 10 seamstresses. The lace was imported from France, while taffeta and other fabrics were purchased from Italy.

Keep watching this site, as we will be bringing you even more impressive record breaking weddings!

The ideal Art Deco Wedding Theme !

Art Deco. What springs to your mind ?? A stunning elegance, a ton of glamour with a mix of functionality and modernity. I love the geometric curves and deco motives which are a key part of any Art Deco theme. The 20's was such an inspiring time which is a big wedding trend in the modern day. Vintage, retro and Great Gatsby wedding trends with the amazing flapper style dresses and 1920's headbands are seen widely across the catwalk today. Loving this amazing theme which would compliment any venue so sit back, relax and take a ride back though time.....

Turning Japanese

I love Japan, and pretty much anything that has to do with Japan. So how could I resist writing about Japanese styled weddings! This doesn't mean covering the place in Hello Kitty or Pokemon and having a robot do the ceremony (although it would be awesome!) It is a great wedding theme for the Spring and Summer months, this idea has lots of available colour schemes to work with as well as many quirky ideas for guests to enjoy as well!

Of course you can don the whole uchikake (red kimono) outfit for your big day, but if you still want the white dress, it it easy to influence Japan into it by using sashes or carrying fans. This can also be done for the rest of the Bridal party. Flowers can be beautiful as you have such a great selection, with my favourites of course being the beautiful cherry blossoms, frangipani and orchids which we have all begun to relate to the country.

Decorate the room with more cherry blossoms and bright plants, and use lanterns to add some traditional light around the room. And for food, how about a large sushi platter for your guests to pick from, or as pictured, a sushi wedding cake! Favours can be fun too. You can have miniature fans for your guests, or maybe some sushi-styled candles or little lanterns. My favourite idea is having origami sets on tables for guests to have fun making. Perhaps to get everyone really involved you can make it a competition?

And how to top it all off? By jet-setting off to the tremendous city of Tokyo for your honeymoon to keep the Japanese flowing through to the very end. A simple, easy and stunning theme for your wedding.

Beautiful Bumps!

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. But sometimes ‘little things’ pop up and make planning a little more difficult. Babies love to be a surprise, but what do you wear for your big day once you are showing? Thankfully there are many stockists of bridal maternity dresses for you to choose from, offering long gowns to short dresses, and keeping the intricate detailing you desire. There are also many big name designers who produce stunning outfits such as Alfred Angelo!

And it’s not always the bride who gets caught out. Bridesmaid’s dresses are also readily available for you to find, in many styles and colours to suit any wedding theme.

Have a good browse online, find the dress of you (and bump’s) dreams, and get ready to enjoy your special day with the whole family.

A picture tells a thousand stories...
Today's blog, I explained how I came to choose my photographer and what kind of photos suited me. its important to be a ease and comfortable with the day and therefore making memory's last that will be there forever.

A Picture Tells A Thousand Stories.....

A picture tells of so many stories and memories, capturing the most important details and remember the camera doesn't lie! Yes, you really did look that amazing and that's why photographs really are the most important thing at a wedding. Its important to find the right style of photographer for your wedding, I choose the wonderful Nicki Thurgar who I later found out when to school, with my Dad !! Nicky really put me at ease, not only in front of the camera, but we had a pre-wedding shoot and learnt how Nicki captured our special moments. To me our wedding photos were about us, not the distant aunts and uncles that we haven't seen since childhood !
Look below for some beautiful capture moment pictures....

A Truly Christmas Wedding

Now, seeing as all the posts tend to be about weddings at home, I thought I'd give away a chance too. And with the spirit of Christmas just round the corner (and having just seen the Norwich lights switch on, throwing me into crimbo overdrive!), today is all about.... Lapland Weddings!

The true home of Santa Claus, land of reindeer and snow, and the sky owning the beautiful Aurora Borealis, what a stunning destination to get married! Away from aisles and vows Lapland’s got the right mix for brides, grooms and loved-up friends and family. The capital of Lapland, Rovaniemi has nightlife that’ll get you partying and is the perfect base to meet the country’s most famous resident – Santa Claus. Head over to Yllas and Levi and you’ll not only leave behind the bright lights of the big city, you’ll also get to experience old-world Lapland.

Imagine getting ready in the morning, and taking your reindeer pulled sleigh to your venue to meet your groom. Picture yourself with your loved one walking hand in hand through a blanket of snow and looking at the night sky with twinkling stars and perhaps a surprise spectacle of the northern lights display. Or it could be just the two of you having a champagne toast in a cosy log cabin in front of a crackling fire.

And of course, it is home to the legendary and most amazing, Ice Hotel. Every year in JukkasjÀrvi (in Swedish Lapland) when the temperature drops, artists and architectures alike join forces to build a hotel completely out of snow and ice. From the beds and chairs, to the glasses and plates, everything is made of frozen water! And with its own purpose built chapel for weddings, a truly magical location for any couple!

Many travel companies will have packages varying for different Lapland locations and seasons, and all varying in cost. It is important to remember the paperwork needs to be well coordinated and can take up to 3 months to process therefore early planning is essential.

While the documentary requirements for Lapland weddings are uncomplicated, it is essential that the wedding is planned in advance in order for all the legalised documentation to be processed. The following is a list of the required documents:
• Legalised (apostilled) No Impediment to Marriage form
• Legalised (apostilled) copies of passports for both parties
• Legalised (apostilled) copies of Birth Certificates for both parties
• Copy of Decree Absolute (for divorcees only)/name changes
• Finnish No Impediment form (one form to be completed by bride   and groom each)
• Finnish marriage in Finland (one form to be completed by bride and groom each)

Its good to do your research before booking to ensure everything has been taken care of, or perhaps get a wedding planner to take care of all the little details for you. But with some early planning, this could be the dream location for you!
