The (not so) LBD

The LBD. The little black dress. Every woman's wardrobe must have and perfect to wear for every event. So why not bring it into your wedding? More and more brides are opting for colour instead of wearing white in our modern age. And why not black? Black is the colour of the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, creating an air of mystery. It makes you look thinner, and suits everyone! In fact, wearing black was really popular for weddings until 1840 when Queen Victoria wore white and kicked off the 'tradition'.

When it comes to your wedding, why make the exception. Yes, the dress may not be so little, but the black will accentuate curves, and guests will definitely know who the bride is! You also know wearing black for your wedding is fashionable by the designers making the dresses, with the most spectacular wedding dress designer launching a complete range of black dresses last year, the wonderful Vera Wang (I may be in love with half her dresses...)

You can then play around with the bridesmaids. Dress the girls in white or red to make them stand out. Or perhaps put the Groom in a white suit! And the theme doesn't have to be gothic, as you could see from yesterday's post on wild weddings, infusing Africa into your day with a black and white colour scheme.

So when you go to the Bridal Boutique to pick the perfect dress, and see the not so LBD in the corner, give it a try. You never know, it could be the perfect dress for you!
