Mint Madness Part Two!!!

Seeing as November's post on Mint themes has been so popular lately, I thought I'd do a part two and go into it a bit more! The colour mint seems set to be one of the biggest trends of 2013 in the wedding world and its simple to see why. Not only is it clean, crisp and bright, but it can be used with many other colours as well such as lemon, chocolate, white, peach and pastel pink (as well as more but these are my faves!). Of course you can simply use just mint. I would definitely say it is more of a spring/summer colour as it may feel too cold in winter, unless mixed with a deeper colour such as chocolate. It also works well whether you choose to go modern or vintage, meaning its accessible for everyone (although it may be more difficult for a gothic wedding...)

Brides can wear as much or as little mint as wanted. Little accessories such as earrings, necklaces and bracelets can give that perfect hint to the Bride. There are coloured dresses available as well if you want, but if sticking with white, pop on some mint shoes for a cute look. Put bridesmaids into matching dresses, either all the same colour, or use two colours, alternating through the wedding party. And for men, use either ties, socks, shirts or cufflinks to bring the look, with grey suits to match.

Decor is yet again, whatever your theme is. White bird cages keep within 2013 trends as well as bunting in mint and any other chosen colour. Ribbons around chairs, and lots of flowers will work well. If sticking with just mint, add orchids, white roses or gardenia to the day, and if going for a mix of colour, of course roses again, hydrangea, gerbera and chrysanthemums. I also love the idea of using Bells of Ireland as it is a member of the mint family and represents luck!

Food can be made to fit the theme too. I much prefer the traditional cake for this theme, with perfect lines, two to three tiers, and clean finish compared to the wonky style favoured at present. Macaroons are still a popular sweet to serve guests, which with the right food colouring can be made to match the colour theme. I love the idea of mint chocolate brownies with mint ice cream for guests, and serving mint juleps and peppermint tea for drinks.

And some last little ideas. For favours, how about some personalised mint packets, or maybe some mini mint plants. You can have mint (and other chosen colour/themed invites to match, with many companies producing various designs to match this years trend.
