A Glamping Wedding Weekend

Camping. Weddings. Glamorous camping. Glamping. A glamping wedding!! What a wonderful combination! It's my idea of a perfect, relaxed way of spending your big day (or stretching it out into a weekend if everyone glamps with you!)

The options for glamping are far from limited! There are tipis, yurts, campervans, bell tents, gypsy caravans, a bus, a truck, an airstream... And of course if you're not that interested in the glamorous side of glamping then there is always the basic tent.

I'm not going to get into how much I love glamping! However what I will explain is why a glamping wedding is so fantastic. The wedding party and guests would arrive and set up at the location the day before the ceremony. The bride and her bridesmaids and the groom and his ushers get to all spend the evening before together (their last single night!) along with all their closest friends and family. Because its glamping the night can be spent in a comfy bed and you can pamper yourself in exactly the same way as you would at home the morning of the ceremony. The glamping experience can be as basic or lavish as you want or need it to be. The location can be all yours (keep an eye out for stray cows and sheep!) and everything can be in one place (no driving - perfect). The celebrations can roll smoothly into the night with guests retiring to their choice of glamping venue when they want to sleep. And really how much more romantic can you get than sleeping under the stars? The following morning everyone is still there to share breakfast and memories (and reminders) of the day before.

The day can be relaxed; I love the idea of friends sitting around on straw bales playing guitar. Of flower girls running around with flowers in their hair. Of giant sofas made from straw bales! Friends with musical talent can entertain those that do not. Children will love the freedom. Adults will love the freedom. I think it has a really lovely family-friendly festival feel to it. It makes you want to sit in the sunshine on a beautiful picnic blanket drinking cider or pimms or some other terribly British drink enjoying the special weekend in wonderful company.

Don't forget to provide warm blankets in case the night turns cold. Your guests will love you forever for thinking of that little detail!

Hope this has got you thinking outside the box for how to celebrate your big "day"... Why not make it a whole weekend?
