Karen & Daniel's Mini Adventure

Good morning !
Gemma here today to share with you a lovely little wedding I planned last year for a tiny budget of £2,000!
Read on to find out how Karen and Daniel's Mini Adventure was my favourite wedding of the year!

Karen Sayer first contacted me in May 2012, to plan her wedding to Daniel. As a busy couple with a family electrical business to run and two children, Karen needed someone to help plan her special day. And to take away the stress of wedding planning.
On meeting the couple, a few weeks later, it was obvious that these two were down to earth, not looking for a extravagant wedding, just wanting a day to celebrate there love with close family and immediate friends.
So when I asked if they had a date in mind and Daniel said about a December wedding, no other date would of been more perfect but Saturday 1st December, Daniels parents wedding anniversary, who were honoured to share there special day with their son.
Next question on my list was the budget! Karen was determined as it was a small intermit day that the budget was to be £2,000. Daniel was a bit more giving and was willing to allow extra for the perfect venue.
We decided that Dereham register office was the perfect place for the ceremony accompanying 50 guests for the service and then on to Tittleshall village hall for the extra 25 evening guests. It was also close to Karen's elderly nanny, so would make the perfect reception venue. With its flint walls and village charm it oozed charm and character !

The bridal party consisted of one bridesmaids, Karen's sister who wore a cadburys purple dress from Monsoon with fur shrug, and Karen's stepdaughter Lara who was flower girl. Daniel's groomsmen consisted of his best mate Neville as best man and son Jack as page boy and ring bearer!
Daniels dad became toastmaster whilst Daniels sisters acted as ushers. The men hired suits from Slaters in Norwich.
Karen's dress was from a sample sale in La Belle Angele in Bridewell Ally in Norwich, and was worn with a matching ivory veil.

Although a December wedding, Karen didn't want the wedding to be Christmassy, Daniel even joked about having the reception in the local pub as there would be a tree up ! Karen wanted to stick to cadburys purple and a ivory/silver theme and so hired out tall shabby chic candlesticks from Evissa weddings and matching love hearts to use as centre pieces. Lots of purple organzer was brought to make bows to decorate the room with which matched the table runners and chair sashs. Tiny purple confetti crystals finished the table decorations whilst I made the favour bags to match the tables. On the day co-ordination provided by myself and Michelle from Evissa wedding.

The wedding guests arrived to the hall with warming smell of a mulled wine and orange juice drinks reception, and for the wedding breakfast, Karen was adamant that again a Christmas roast dinner wasn't appropriate for the meal, so instead opted for a Indian style lunch of lamb rogan josh with sides of nann bread and poppordoms!!
Norfolk bar hire provided us with a bar for the hall and me and Michelle were even on waitress duties. Daniels speech had us in in the giggles, when he presented his best man Neville with a gift of him dresses as the fat controller from Thomas the tank !
Magic man Chris started the afternoon entertainment, showing us amazing tricks which had the kids and all the big children entertained !
The evening kicked off with a buffet of cheese and biscuits and then Bid D from Gemini Productions started the evening entertainment with selection of Elvis and Motown music.

Karen's mum made the cake, and flowers were sourced by a local supplier who ran a small florist from her farm shop. The couples first dance was to military wives stronger together.

And the mini?
Karen's dad had a beautiful vintage red mini! With him being a tall man and a wedding dress to fit in Daniel nearly didn't get in ! Instead the bride sat with her father in the front and Daniel squished in the Back! He of course provided the wedding transport and was the perfect fun factor to this day!

The couples day was captured perfectly by DB photography and at £250 was one of the best savings of the day!

Karen and Daniel spent there wedding night in wood side cottage a small B&B close to Tittleshall which was just the most idyllic setting!

Karen and Daniel we wish you all the luck in the world x x
