How did you get into videography?
"I have always loved filming friends and family from an early age. In 2007, a friend asked me to film her wedding because she hadn't the budget for a professional. I researched wedding video clips on the internet for a few weeks, upgraded my camera, bought a budget editing system, and filmed, edited and produced the DVD for their present. They were so pleased with it, and the other people commented that it was good, I though maybe I could do it as a job. Once again I researched how to start a production company, and after 6 months of practice and more research, I offered 10 couples a completely free of chrage wedding DVD to use for my portfolio. Within a week the spaces had been filmed. Out of the 10 couples that I filmed, 8 of them actually wanted to pay me. With these funds, I upgraded my camera again, and the editing software, and I then started charging. Since then, I have had an office built, have two Sony HD cameras, a high profile editing suite and now film all events. Weddings is the area where Kaandaro specialise, but we also film parties, christenings, sports events, charity events and so forth. In 2012 we started Little Shed Films, where we concentrate on music videos, documentaries and commercial filming, which includes industrial filming."
What can you offer Brides and Grooms?
"We offer bespoke packages for wedding filming to brides and grooms. Marryoke is very popular, as is the Film Intros which the grooms like to concentrate on. We also offer a Diary Room at the reception where friends and family can leave fun and emotional messages to the couple. We always film with two cameras. And we can also film Hen/Stag days and nights."
What's your favourite part of your job?
"I am very passionate about the whole day, but my favourite part is the romantic shots, where the photographer and I spend a few minutes with the couple alone to film just the two of them. My creative juices take over then!"
